Last week we posted a wildly popular video dialogue with Eckhart Tolle here. In this video, Eckhart and I discussed the "Dark Night of The Soul" and the intimate and impersonal nature of consciousness. Eckhart explains that the "mind" will never understand "awareness". (Click here to watch this Eckhart Tolle video dialogue).
This led to a deeply interesting dinner conversation last week with a friend, who pointed to something ineffable and suggested I read some work of a highly regarded American Mystic, Franklin Merrell-Wolff.

Addiction, Recovery and Spiritual Awakening
What does addiction have to do with non-duality?
In actuality, a lot.
I first heard of Paul Hedderman through a series of Skype videos he did with NeverNotHere.com, Richard Miller's website dedicated to interviews with teachers of non-duality.
Paul's expression is unique to him; it is alive, vital and fresh. His sense of humor makes him a difficult person to interview. I found myself frequently laughing out loud. But that is not all.
Another thing about Paul Hedderman: he is in recovery, having a dark and sordid past history with drugs and alcohol. Frankly, I share this history with him.

Rupert Spira: Pure Nondual Intimacy: The Promise of Self Inquiry
Rupert keeps sending us new question and answers that he finds particularly clear. We keep agreeing. So, we just keep posting, hoping to introduce more of you to this contemporary teacher.
Because this writer holds that the particular discovery, that objects never exist,is a key to unlocking our intimate discovery that everything is truly love, I beg your pardon as I introduce yet another dialogue regarding the reality of separation and the intimate nature of our relation to all. Click here to read Rupert Spira's nondual discussion on the nature of objects. Are they nothing more than a breeze in the air?

The Six Enneads by Plotinus
The East was not unique in offering clear direction uncovering the ultimate reality. In fact, there are many Western mystics or "philosophers" who exposed the light of our true nature through deep introspection.
Perhaps you have heard this great quote:
""There, our Self-seeing is a communion with the Self, restored to purity. No doubt we should not speak of "seeing," but, instead of [speaking of] "seen" and "seer," speak boldly of a simple unity. For in this seeing we neither see, nor distinguish, nor are there, two. The man is changed, no longer himself nor belonging to himself; he is merged with the Supreme, sunken into It, one with It; it is only in separation that duality exists. This is why the vision baffles telling; for how could a man bring back tidings of the Supreme as something separate from himself when he has seen It as one with himself?"--- Plotinus: Enneds,9: 6:10

Great Texts Pointing to Deconstruction of Time and Space
There appears to be an infinite number of paths leading to the understanding of the Ultimate. This may be because, unlike absolute Truth, which can never change, ignorance unfolds in an infinite amount of ways, each uniquely suited to the individual "person" one believes to be.
Far be it for us to characterize one as necessarily more effective than another.
Having said this, it seems clear that, in order to truly recognize nonduality, the reality of our existence experientially, at some point, a deep and serious investigation into the key data of mentation is necessary: bodily sensation, sensory perception, feelings and thoughts.
Thus begins an investigation that starts with mentation (perceptions or arsiings) and, ultimately leads to a closer look at what we call time and space.

Eckhart Tolle on The Dark Night of The Soul
Last year, I was invited to join a small group with Eckhart Tolle and the newly formed online venture, Eckhart Tolle TV, for a week in a closed studio. It was a very memorable event.
The entire series was filmed; a short dialogue between us was recorded. I believe it captures his magic beautifully.
