Bede Griffiths was a Benedictine Monk with a universal heart. Born in England, educated at Oxford, Bede ( meaning prayer) travelled to India and took the name Dhayananda (bliss of prayer) and later, Dayanand (bliss of compassion). He was ordained at the age of 34 and resided at Shantivanam Ashram in South India.
