true home: “… Your True Home is in the here and the now. It is not limited by time, space, nationality, or race …” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
As it often happens with our posts: a topic is nominally “in the mind” … but at times … something else emerges the day before or near the post-creation/publishing …. and sometimes, we let that emerging force “carry the day” 🙂 … and so it is for this post!
Simplicity is the underpinning for this post … with an eye towards Thich Nhat Hanh’s Your True Home: The Everyday Wisdom of Thich Nhat Hanh … which is a collection of 365 teachings (one for each day … short – mostly one paragraph, sometimes two) that can be best characterized as … simple … that – unsurprisingly – upon deeper exploration … reveal insights that are profoundly transformative.
We will explore this gem in more depth in due course (as our typical full book preview) … but for now just want to offer a taste … so here’s Thay’s completion of what he means by Your True Home … followed by his thoughts on Training for Happiness …
So … pause … pause again … read … pause … reflect … and see what unfolds …
Your true home is not an abstract idea; it is something you can touch and live in every moment. With mindfulness and concentration, the energies of the Buddha, you can find your true home in the full relaxation of your mind and body in the present moment.
True Home:Training For Happiness
Little by Little you must train yourself for life, for happiness.
You probably received a college degree that you spent years working for,
and you thought that happiness would be possible after you got it.
But that was not true, because after getting the degree and finding a job,
you continued to suffer.
You have to realize that happiness is not something you find at the end of the road.
You have to understand that it is here, now.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh

May you remain safe and healthy.
