gratitude: “… It is not happiness that makes us grateful. It is gratefulness that makes us happy …” ~ David Steindl-Rast
What if gratitude is what remains… when we simply meet what is?
We often think of gratitude as something we practice: a response to what is good … balancing what is difficult … or something we try to feel …
But what if gratitude is not intentional … or a conscious act … but … something that simply reveals itself when resistance begins to soften?
No effort.
No reaching for a better – or different – moment. But a willingness to … be with … what is.
And in that … the sense that something is missing begins to dissolve … and with it, the need for this moment to be different.
What remains is not an idea of gratitude … but something more immediate.
A subtle sense of “enough-ness” … a natural ease.
As if nothing has been added … and nothing is lacking.
May you experience … gratitude … in all your everyday encounters …
We are taking an extended pause … due to health needs … and … expect to return in August … or sooner if circumstances allow. 🙏
