Supreme Moment: “…  the one moment that changes everything. That lasts forever. When He shows His face and you see your own … “ ~ Kabir

Kabir’s words always show some aspect of his immersion in the Divine … and, as always, he goes to the heart of the matter : there is that singular moment that is profoundly life transforming … it defies time and is paradoxical (it was then but still is now … is a moment yet lasts forever) … and it can certainly lay claim to the “supreme” qualifier as it reveals That which matters …

In their poetry, both Kabir and Rumi – another mystic fellow explorer who preceded Kabir by over 200 years and was also “drunk with the Divine” perhaps even more so – endlessly express the importance of That which matters, each in their unique way:

As Rumi exhorts us: “… There is one thing in this world you must never forget to do. If you forget everything else and not this, there’s nothing to worry about, but if you remember everything else and forget this, then you will have done nothing in your life …”

Or as Kabir says: “… if you’re still after the things of this world you’re still only a beggar who’s found nothing in yourself …”

Engoldenment: A Year with Kabir andrew harveySo, today we offer Kabir’s invitation to catch the supreme moment … via Andrew Harvey’s Engoldenment: A Year with Kabir: 366 Timeless Poems … a book that is a daily calendar of Kabir poems for an entire year offering the possibility of everyday immersion in Kabir’s wisdom and passion … passion that ranges from “tender”  to “scalding fierce” … wisdom that is always a pointer to the “full freedom” that’s indeed possible …

As Kabir’s reminds us: “… saying Your Name I have become You. There is no ego left alive in me, coming and going. Both have vanished everywhere I see only You…”

We always invite pause and self reflection – especially through our poetry posts – so as to give space for our own inner guide to shine through … so we can hear (in Jonathan Star’s most apropos words) the “… voice in us all that is ever-present …”

Happy reading … with pauses … and sweet, precious reflections ! 🙂

Catch the Supreme Moment

You’ll come suddenly
To know who He is
And who you are.

You-and-Hari
In one Self
The whole cosmos
Your house.

whole cosmos your house kabir harvey galaxy in space

This moment: A seed
Sprouting
All at once—
Forest after forest
Of revelation.

Nothing left unknown.

Kabir says: Since I caught
This Supreme Moment,
Since this Supreme Moment
Caught me,
Where I am, He is
Where He is, I am.

~ Kabir
