“… The sun is down. Stillness hovers …” ~ Zenju Earthlyn Manuel

Indeed sunset – regardless (almost) of where one is – brings the opportunity to “taste” the gift of stillness …

Of course, the gift of stillness can be consciously “brought to bear” during challenging situations or encounters … or one could safely say – based on the wisdom of the ages, regardless of the tradition – that stillness (even brief or prolonged) lets one navigate such times of intensities … with equanimity and balance …

We’d noted in our July 5th newsletter (and also hinted at in our July 12th post) that certain life circumstances were going to impact our regular publishing for the foreseeable future resulting in delays and more …

Unfortunately, the “challenge quotient” of such circumstances has increased … resulting in even deeper impacts …

Consequently we’ll be putting any new content publishing on hold for at least 6 weeks, possibly more … it’s our form of “taking shelter” in the womb of stillness and taking care of ourselves until the “storm” subsides …

Am reminded of some of Zenju Earthlyn Manuel (a Zen teacher waiting in the wings to be featured on Stillness Speaks) words from her recent book the Deepest Peace: Contemplations From A Season of Stillness  …

“… Within each quaking there was the inherent silence and stillness of being …”

and that the only thing to do during such times is to breathe and be still … taking it deeper and deeper … and fortunately the body knows when – and how – to do this … and most importantly remind ourselves that:

“… Stillness is inherent. After suffering and resistance, the only thing left is contemplation of life and after contemplation, stillness, and after stillness, peace …”

We deeply appreciate your understanding and patience with for this brief pause …

We’ll post updates here – and in our newsletters – as life unfolds.
