“… Be still and awaken to the realization of who you Are …” ~ Adyashanti
Indeed, Adyashanti is echoing “the eternal song” in the above quote … which he also expresses as “When we realize who we are, we no longer have this endless confusion, this eternal battle with ourselves. Therefore we tend to not struggle with others or the world.”
A profound reminder to all of us as to how conflict of any kind is “ultimately resolvable” … through realizing who we are, or our True Nature … and from this singular realization emerges abiding compassion for ourselves and our fellow human beings, which in turn allows peace to “seed” and flourish … peace that is especially important in current times as chaos rocks America (and other parts of the world) … chaos stemming from the brutal and utterly unnecessary death of George Floyd … chaos resulting from the pandemic and the ensuing economic collapse … chaos due to “politics seemingly driving the navigation of the pandemic in America” which is mind boggling …
Fortunately, “heroes” continue to “rise up” – in different segments of society – to meet the challenges of this deeply troubling times …
So, before we get to this “ultimate core” …
As we’ve done since the COVID crisis began … we want to honor and highlight the “heroes” that continue to ensure our health and safety in the midst of the pandemic: Go Fund Me has organized various campaigns targeted towards the COVID-19 relief efforts. All of these campaigns are worthy of our attention … but for now we want to highlight TWO critical ones that we are supporting personally and also as Stillness Speaks (through donations):
We are all facing financial challenges but IF your situation allows you to donate and help then …
… please visit Frontline Responders Fund’s Go Fund Me page … and help deliver crucial supplies to these frontline responders …
… and/or visit America’s Food Fund Go Fund Me page and help feed the neighbors in need.
And, we again, express our deepest gratitude to a) the COVID-19 Frontline Responders (all the healthcare professionals – doctors, nurses, hospital/medical-services staff – firefighters, law enforcement, volunteers, and any/all the people involved in keeping the “system-at-large” functioning for ALL of us) … and b) Go Fund Me for organizing America’s Food Fund to feed the needy.
THANK YOU – our lives would not be possible without your dedication.
And, today we have a most uplifting surprise addition to our highlight: heroes are also emerging in “corporate America” … a most heartening development …
… where “Greater Capitalism” is being practiced through three “greater thans” : 1) equal opportunity > equal outcome, 2) stakeholders > shareholders, and 3) solutions today > solutions tomorrow …
… All of this is from a recent Forbes post : Greater Capitalism: How The Pandemic Is Permanently Reshaping Our Economic System For the Better … highly recommended and most worthwhile read … a real proof – and boost – for all, especially those of us who remain optimistic, even in the midst of the deepest challenge to humanity …
And now … back to the “ultimate core” … explored through Adyashanti’s poem …
Who Are You?
beyond the body, mind and personality
beyond all experience and the experiencer thereof—
beyond the world and its perceiver
beyond existence and its absence
beyond all assertions and denials.
Be still and awaken to the realization
of who you Are.
In this realization of no separate self
the Supreme Reality which you Are
in all things, as all things, and beyond all things.
Having returned to the formless Source
and transcended all separateness
do not stop or cling even to this Source
but go beyond to the Supreme Realization
which transcends all dualities
yet does not deny even a speck of dust.
The enlightened sage abides
as the eternal witness
wholly unconcerned, yet intimately engaged.
Resting beyond all definitions
he neither clings to transcendent freedom
nor is he entangled by the dualistic world;
therefore, he is at one with all of life.
Living in the perfect trust of Supreme Realization
he has nothing to gain or lose
and naturally manifests love, wisdom
without any personal sense of being
the doer of deeds.
Having abandoned all concepts and ideas
the enlightened sage lives
as ever-present consciousness
manifested and manifesting
in the world of time and space
That which is eternal, ever new, and whole.
In this unobscured realization
Supreme Reality shines consciously
in all things, as all things, and beyond all things.
Shining unobscured, it penetrates
the entire universe.
Penetrating the entire universe
it knows itself as Self.
This poem is from My Secret is Silence: Poetry and Sayings of Adyashanti, by Adyashanti … where the Introduction aptly states that the book “… like a moon reflecting light from an unseen sun. When viewed through the clear and empty window of your open mind and heart, each saying, each poem, each chapter in it reflects the radiant light of your own Being …” … and, it goes on to add that “… Each chapter of this book highlights a theme that follows a general movement of the spiritual journey that begins with the spiritual search and culminates in the dance of true non-duality. Each poem is followed by sayings that serve to further illuminate its message …”
So, Adyashanti’s sayings for this poem are worth reflecting upon:
The true I is I-less while remaining as I.
All of existence
is none other than myself
and yet I transcend all of existence
and all of myself.
You can neither look for the truth,
nor find the truth, nor lose the truth;
for all the time you are the truth.
This poem is from the final chapter, The Eternal Song, which (again from the Introduction) “… offers the perspective where there is no distinction between personal and transpersonal, no separation of self and other. If you read this chapter with your thinking mind, it may not make sense. Rather, listen with your whole being, from the place where all perspectives dissolve and dance together, where there is no particular point of view. How do we do this? Adyashanti suggests, “Rest and be taken.” …”
Here are some more Adyashanti sayings that you might find of value … especially as you contemplate today’s poem:
Your eye is God’s eye.
You think that enlightenment is something
other than what is happening right now.
This is your primary mistake.

May the contemplation of this poem help you realize who you are … and …
May you be peaceful in your daily rhythm and interactions with others … and …
May you remain safe and healthy as you navigate these troubling times.
