Praise this day: “Don’t forget that you are the clear light of awareness” ~ Adyashanti

Ah! … the gift of this day … the gift of today … that begins with each sunrise …

As Rumi reminds us : “On a day when the wind is perfect the sail just needs to open and the world is full of beauty. Today is such a day.”

Indeed, every day is such a day where the “… empty window of silence is everywhere – always revealing the infinite forms of your own beauty …” … and wholeheartedly embracing it offers …

The potential to realize – and embody – the gem within Adyashanti’s reminder that “… There is nothing but the One in relationship with itself …”  as he invites us to “… put it all on the line and “for once in your life,” lose your final hand to God” …”

So here’s Adyashanti’s praise of this day

Praise This Day …

Save your mentally manufactured tales of
enlightenment-to-come for someone else’s ears.
The price to enter this love
is your hope for a better future.

We are not a crowd of beggars here.
You and I have been down that long, twisted road
all the way to its end.
Here we do not ask God for favors
but instead celebrate the light in each other’s eyes.

So if you are ready to stop denying yourself
your own beauty
you have come to the right place.
Wake up now and praise this day
when you realize that God’s eyes
are the ones you are looking out of, and into.

Praise this day—
and with each breath you take
be filled with the golden arc of love
which announces the ending of
your argument with God.

Praise this day
simply because it exists
and sit down now in the warm skin
of your own lap;

for you are home
and it is time to rest
in the merciful light
of your own eyes.

~ Adyashanti

This poem, My Secret Is Silence, is from Adyashanti’s book My Secret is Silence: Poetry and Sayings of Adyashanti … and is excerpted from the chapter The Shape of Love where “… Adyashanti speaks about Love and the call to live and move as Love embodied in form:

Drink the wine of this Love
and your life will change.
Instead of being a gatherer
of the Divine Light
you will be its shine.

It will be the end of you
and the beginning.

…” (from the Introduction)

The Introduction also says “… Each chapter of this book highlights a theme that follows a general movement of the spiritual journey that begins with the spiritual search and culminates in the dance of true non-duality. Each poem is followed by sayings that serve to further illuminate its message …”

So, here’s Adyashanti’s sayings that “further illuminate” the above poem’s message:

Spiritual love is the expression of an undivided self.

Don’t forget that you are the clear light of awareness.

There is nothing but the One in relationship with itself.

As we’ve done since COVID emerged … Go Fund Me needs to be commended for organizing various campaigns targeted towards COVID-19 relief efforts. All of these campaigns are worthy of our attention … but for now we wanted to highlight TWO critical ones that we have donated personally and also as Stillness Speaks:

Despite the financial challenges that are amongst us all, if your situation allows you to donate and help then …

… please visit  Frontline Responders Fund’s Go Fund Me page … and help deliver crucial supplies to these frontline responders …

… and/or visit  America’s Food Fund Go Fund Me page and help feed the neighbors in need.

And, we again, express our deepest gratitude to a) the COVID-19 Frontline Responders (all the healthcare professionals – doctors, nurses, hospital/medical-services staff – firefighters, law enforcement, volunteers, and any/all the people involved in keeping the “system-at-large” functioning for ALL of us) … and b) Go Fund Me for organizing America’s Food Fund to feed the needy.

THANK YOU!

May the contemplation of this poem help you realize the gift of this day … the gift of today … and …

May you be peaceful in your daily rhythm and interactions with others … and …

May you remain safe and healthy as you navigate these troubling times.
