You are very quiet, but you leave this trace in my heart.   ~ Pir Elias Amidon

home, heart, no trace

Your Home is from Munajat a book of forty prayers, by Pir Elias Amidon, originally inspired by the Munajat — whispered prayers, or intimate conversations with God — of the 12th Century Persian Sufi, Abdullah Ansari.

The light this morning is of this world
but I know you are here.
You are very quiet but you leave
this trace in my heart.

Between my eye and the sunlight on the floor
you are smiling, I am sure,
but who would believe me?
Oh, if I could only tell them!

home, light, self

You gave me this body, you gave me this me.
I want to give them back now!
My body and my self are colors of your light,
here, my beloved, they are yours!

Guide me this day with your unseen love,
guide me with your kindness,
take away my self-preoccupation,
and use my heart, beloved, for your home.
